The Minister of Social Affairs, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, hopes PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (Persero) (PPI) can absorb the farmers' crops, especially when the results are abundant so that prices do not plummet.

"The problem of urban farmers during this time is when the production is abundant, the price definitely falls, and when the price rises, the farmers can not enjoy the added value," said Minister of Social Khofifah Indar Parawansa, in Pujon Kidul Village, Pujon Sub- , Malang Regency, East Java, on Saturday (11/3/2017).

Minister of Social Affairs was present at Pujon Kidul during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PPI and Pontian Bahrul Maghfiroh Cinta Indonesia. Trisilo Ari Setyawan as Commercial Director of PPI and Edy Lukmannul Karim as Responsible Foundation Bahrul Maghfiroh Cinta Indonesia signed the Memorandum of Understanding. PPI and Yayasan Bahrul Maghfiroh Cinta Indonesia cooperate in sales in the package of basic needs and conduct resource collaboration in the framework of business development in the sales of food packages.

Social Minister told some time ago when the price of tomatoes fell, he bought a farmer's tomato harvest as much as one truck and the Ministry of Agriculture five trucks followed by several other institutions. "Once purchased, the commodities are sold back to the staff at their respective institutions, the result was able to lift the price of tomatoes," he said.

For that, Khofifah hopes the PPI to do the same. When production is abundant and unabsorbed, the PPI will absorb it and market it back to communities and traders.

"Hopefully, PPI can gradually find a solution when the harvest is abundant and has not been absorbed by the market so that, slowly, the realization of the farmer's economy will increase," said Khofifah.

Alluding to the economic empowerment of society with the existence of BUMdes village and sub-district level, Social Minister said there must be synergy of all elements, not enough just BUMdes.

"For example, in Pujon, the synergy of community economic empowerment is represented by some elements," said Khofifah. "There are SOEs represented by PPI, BNI, government represented by Malang Regency and community element of Ponpes Bahwul Maghfiroh, present to fulfill the basic needs of society.

Social Minister hopes that one day people who still receive social assistance, can be independent, even a party that provides assistance. "How long the bansos can last, but if the efforts made by these elements are massive and intensive, I'm sure everything will change," she explained.

PPI POS

Besides chilli, PPI currently also handles foodstuffs such as sugar, meat, peppers, onions and industrial products of SMEs traded inter-island.

Assisted by the existing RPK-RPK, it is important that this effort is important to help ensure stock availability.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, is also planned to attend the signing of this MoU, in accordance with one of the missions of the Ministry of Social Affairs, namely to increase the accessibility of social protection to ensure the fulfillment of basic needs and ensure the sustainability of community participation in social welfare.

As a spirit, concern for the wong cilik becomes the soul of the achievement of the vision. This means that all activities and development programs in Malang must really bring benefit to the little people. And all the results of development in the city of Malang should be enjoyed by the little boy who in fact is a small majority of people in Malang.

PPI also recently brought 15 tons of beef (with 30 refrigerators) to be marketed by indigenous traders in five traditional markets in Jayapura City.

The effort is made to improve the economic independence of indigenous Papuans, especially in the trade sector while participating in maintaining the stability of meat prices by distributing halal, hygienic, and quality beef at affordable prices.

The aim of the program is not only to empower the original traders, but also to stabilize the price of meat in Papua which is always above Rp 100,000 per kg.

With these efforts, it is hoped that PPI can establish its position as a trusted and reputable trading company and has access to marketing resources and networks at home and abroad and will continue to improve its business from upstream to commercial, structured and measurable downstream; conduct local and cross-country trade transactions; production of goods that support trade; establish partnerships with integrated services by utilizing reliable information technology networks and systems; and improving the welfare of employees through productivity.
